GOD’S CHALLENGE TO ME
October 3, 2008
Are you like me and can’t stand it when you are told that you can’t do something? I really have to be careful because that can be a real problem for me. I’ve been told all my life that I can’t do something for some reason or another. “You’re a girl” or “You’re too short,” or “You aren’t smart enough” or pretty enough or something else I am not enough of. I take all those negative comments as a challenges and run with them, proving many of them wrong. Thankfully, God can turn this weakness of mine around and turn it into a positive. He has a knack for that with everyone.
Ephesians 3:20 (KJV) says, “…Him that is able to do exceedingly and abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.” A little background info on yours truly…

A Bad Day at the Hair Salon
September 10, 2008
When I called to make the appointment at an exclusive salon, I learned it would be months before they could “squeeze me in.” I was disappointed and thankful. It would take me a while to save up the money for such a luxurious treat. I made the appointment with a stylist named Rain and started saving all my pennies.

The Most Memorable Fourth of July
June 28, 2008
On July 4, 1976, I was in New York City celebrating America’s bicentennial. My parents wanted to make sure I never forgot where I was and what I was doing when the country that gives me my freedom turned 200 years old. They succeeded. I have never forgotten spending Independence Day in New York.
My family and I flew into La Guardia airport the day before. The plane ride, in and of itself, was unforgettable. There were more people on the airplane than in all of Creeks Bend, my tiny southern home town. I still have package of peanuts I was given. I didn’t eat them; I saved them as memento of the trip. I drank my first “Shirley Temple.” I felt so grown-up, sitting in the window looking at the clouds below. ..To read more, visit http://www.helium.com/items/1095426-bicentennial-new-york-mustard-central-park-bronx-zoo-cabs-parades-gerald-ford

Organizing A Fourth of July Hot Dog Eating Contest
June 28, 2008
One of the many popular traditions of Fourth of July celebrations is the hot dog eating contest. “Professional eaters” travel from around the world to compete. More than likely, the hot dog eating contest you will be having will not be a world-class competition. It could be a part of a backyard get together or even a fundraiser for an organization/charity of your choice. This doesn’t mean you can’t make your hot dog eating contest like those top-notch competitions. With a little planning, your contest can be just as exciting and fun as the ones seen on television…To read more, visit http://www.helium.com/items/1095429-hot-dog-eating-contest-television-professional-eaters-fundraising-guinness-book
